Spring cleaning made easy – with self storage

As the days become brighter and the daffodils poke their heads out into the sunlight, our thoughts turn to spring cleaning. Clearing out the cobwebs and the clutter is as much a springtime ritual as awwing over the baby lambs and eating too many chocolate eggs.

It’s amazing how quickly clutter can build up over the winter hibernation. But how can you even begin to clean your home when there are piles of stuff everywhere, when every cupboard is overflowing and you can’t even find the feather duster amongst the disarray?!
Stacking things away in another room offers short-term respite, but to really freshen up your living space you need to take decisive action. Bin the unwanted junk. Donate the stuff you’ll never use to charity. Put the things you want to keep but don’t need right now into storage.

In fact, self storage is a great solution for both short term decluttering (to create space for decorating, for example) and long term space optimisation (a lot cheaper than moving to a larger home!).

Here are a few suggestions to get you started:

• Removing a large piece of furniture, such as a sofa or chest of drawers, can often add more to a room in terms of light and space.

• All those ‘essential items’ that have made your garage an impenetrable no-go zone can be stored in a secure self storage unit.

• The boxes of Christmas decorations aren’t likely to be required over summer – so get them out of the way. Space Station self storage units are ideal for this.

• Sort through your piles of books and magazines. Do you actually need them close at hand? Wouldn’t it be better to free up that space for other things that you actually use?

• That indoor bicycle and other gym equipment are great for exercise in the winter, but you can use the real thing outdoors in summer.

• Your wardrobes can breathe a sigh of relief as you liberate them from the burden of winter clothes.

• The kids’ bulky indoor games, such as table football or a snooker table, can be put away while there is fun to be had outdoors.

Taking advantage of self storage for these items makes your home feel bigger and better – and you can relax knowing that your belongings are safe and secure, ready to be collected when you need them again. Space Station self storage offers a huge range of packing materials to help you pack and store your items safely.
