Look out for a Space Station Variety coach coming soon!
In May 2016 we pledged to raise £20,000 for Variety, the Children’s Charity and by the end of 2018 we were delighted to have achieved this! The money raised will enable us to sponsor a Variety Sunshine Coach which helps transport thousands of children and young people every day. The coaches make it possible for them to visit places and experience activities they would otherwise not enjoy.
We would like to thank everyone who has supported our fundraising - below is a look back at some of the highlights!
If you’d like to know anything more about Variety, and the wonderful work they do, please view the Variety the children’s charity website.

Nealy Collins, Marketing Administrator at Space Station said 'Space Station is about providing people with extra space and Jump In provides a huge space for children to jump, play and let off steam - it seemed a perfect match to raise money for disadvantaged children. We're really grateful to Jump In for allowing us to use their space'.

Afternoon tea week – join us for tea and scones
Monday 8th August 2016
Our Head Office team are busy baking scones to serve on Monday 8 August as part of the Afternoon Tea Week. Our customers
and team members will be able to enjoy them for a donation to Variety.
Vlatka Lake, Marketing Manager at Space Station, said: “Monday morning will be very busy with baking scones to serve in our Slough store. We hope that both our staff and customers join in and fill their tummies with scones whilst losing a few pounds at the same time! We enjoy thinking of a ‘variety’ of events in aid of Variety to help improve the lives of disadvantaged children”.
20,000 steps to £20,000
Walking on sunshiiiiine, whee-ey… Our staff members from the Head Office, Uxbridge and West London stores walked 20,000 steps around Virginia Water Lake in Surrey raising almost £600. Great time was had by all, the sun shone, there was ice-cream, chocolate and bacon rolls and lots of lovely smiles greeting us as we walked around the lake. Our youngest participant, 5-year-old Eva raised £477.50 and walked nearly 27,000 steps.
Kevin Prince, CEO at Space Station, said: “We are really proud of our team who raised so much for Variety during the second event. We look forward to continuing our work with Variety to help improve the lives of children and young people”.
Blind bids plus raffle – raising a brilliant £568.50!
Our Slough store team held an open evening on 27 April, throwing open their doors and entertaining members of the local community. The guests and staff alike enjoyed food, cakes and drinks on offer. A raffle followed, containing some delightful gifts, happily received by the prize-winners. The big event of the night was the blind-bid storage auction, with lots of entries, all hoping for an amazing hidden treasure. Altogether, the evening was a great success, raising in excess of £500 for Variety.
In addition to the organised events, our team members are fundraising in their local stores; whether it’s balancing a £1 coin on an submerged apple, finding the right key to unlock the sweetie jar or playing keepie-uppies with the managers, look out for the charity challenge when you next pop in. Or, if you prefer, you can buy a Variety badge instead. Any way you can support us will be very welcome!
