Welcome to the Autumn edition of The Edit. Summer has been and gone (did it ever come?!) and the nights are drawing in. We’ve had Halloween and Bonfire night and now we’re heading into the festive season with Christmas fast approaching!

We’ve got lots of news to share with you from fundraising to staff and store celebrations as well as a brand new offering at our Slough store…

Charity Fashion Show

Fetes, fashion and running faster!

Having passed the half way mark of our fundraising for Variety the Children’s Charity we have continued fundraising over the Summer, to get us closer to our £20,000 goal. There have been fetes, raffles and most recently a Charity Fashion Show which raised over £600 alone!

Vlatka, our Marketing Manager is busy training for her two half marathons – if you’d like to cheer Vlatka on with a sponsorship donation please visit her fundraising page. We’re sure it will help her run faster!

Our total raised to date is £13,671, if you would like to make a donation to help us reach our £20K target please visit our fundraising page

We always have fundraising activities planned so keep an eye on our website and facebook page for upcoming events.

Have you heard about our Crate Hire service?

Available at all of our stores, our sturdy crates are a cost effective and eco-friendly way to pack and store you belongings, keeping them safe and secure when you’re moving home, redecorating or decluttering.

They have a 54 litre capacity, ideal for kitchenware, small domestic appliances, clothing, shoes, blankets and bedding… the list goes on!

Our crates are a great alternative to traditional cardboard boxes, ready to use, with interlocking lids, they can be easily stacked which helps to optimise the valuable space in your home or storage room.

Just take a look at what our customers are saying!

Having used boxes in my first move, I used crates recently and they were unquestionably more superior. The crates are cost effective, sturdy, easy to stack, my contents felt more safe and secure, and there was no packaging to get rid of at the end of the move. It’s a no brainer for me!

Sarah, Windsor

Fantastic friendly professional service. The team were very helpful on the phone beforehand and whilst we were collecting our crates. The hire process was simple and the crates were of a great standard: clean, stackable and spacious.

Hannah, Rickmansworth

Slough celebrates 20 years

This year marks the 20th anniversary at our Slough store, one of the earlier stores opened
by Space Station founder Alastair Caldwell. Having had Fullers Warehousing as a tenant storing Mars packaging for some time it opened as a self-storage centre in 1997.

We’ve been into the archives to see how things have changed over the years and it’s quite impressive to see!

As well as offering storage to local residents and businesses, our Slough store has also supported many local businesses and charity events over the years…

In 2014 free storage space was offered to the victims of floods in nearby Dachet and Colnbrook. We’ve supported the Observer Christmas Toy Appeal for 4 consecutive years now and we regularly donate gifts at special times of the year to to the children’s ward at the local hospital, Wexham Park.

In addition to this, our Slough store has sponsored local football teams, offered free storage
to homeless charities and attended local fetes and carnivals.

…and now our staff news…

Years of experience

We’ve had lots of service awards recently, with staff proving their knowledge and experience of self storage! Simon, our property manager celebrates 20 years with Space Station, Ali, who takes care of the maintence has been at our Slough store for the 20 years it’s been open, Kevin our CEO has been with the company for 10 years and Kristina celebrates 5 years. Congratulations to them all on fantastic achievements!

New stars

New stars

We’ve welcomed four new members of staff to Space Station recently; Emma joined as Duty Manager at our Kings Heath store in March, Derek also joined us in March to support all of our stores as a Multi Trader, Kay joined our North London team in April as a Customer  Sales Advisor and most recently we welcomed Jai as a Customer Sales Advisor at our Uxbridge store. All four have already proved themselves as super stars and settled in to the Space Station family well!

On the subject of stars, our Kings Heath store are in the lead with our Super Star Scheme having accrued the greatest number of stars so far this year for outstanding performance – earning themselves £575.00 – well done Kings Heath!
